8:50 - 14:00 Monday - Friday Children at this age can still find separation from Mommy and Daddy to be a bit of a challenge. By providing a caring environment based on love and trust to help the little ones take their first big step to independence, we can build great friendships and start our journey towards wonderful discoveries! |

Blue Team |
3 - 6 years old |
8:50 - 14:00 Monday - Friday Independence starts to mature. In our Blue Team we begin to shift our focus from learning independent tasks to how to use our skills creatively. Nurturing their creativity helps children express themselves freely with more attention to meaningful details and personal preferences. |
Details of the Daily Routine
8:50 School Begins with Greetings:
Greeting others is an important step in obtaining good communication skills. In the morning we will greet all children with, "Good morning." Children will also change shoes and remove their jackets. This will establish natural habit and they will be able to start each day with a great feeling.
8:50 - 9:45 Activity Play:
Everyday we have different activities ready in the classroom for the children to explore at their own pace. They have play-dough, blocks, music, animal figures, etc. to play with. They can also work on arts and crafts, science projects, or play imaginatively with friends. This is a very important time for children to begin learning how to socialize with friends freely and learn a lot of different play styles from each other.
9:45 - 10:00 Clean Up Time:
Children help each other put the toys away during this time. Cleaning up after oneself is one of the daily activities that fosters independence in the classroom, and promotes self-esteem. We often teach counting, colors, sizes, and shapes by directing the cleanup efforts.
10:00 - 10:30 Snack Time & Toilet Time:
Children receive soft fruit, vegetables, or rice crackers at snack time. We will not give candy or chocolates unless it is a special occasion such as Halloween or St. Valentine's Day. The school provides milk and water during snack time, and anytime during the day if asked. If your child is allergic to any food, please let us know. If there is anything you do not want your child to eat, please let us know as well. Toilet time is a necessary part of the day and although diaper checks are continuous throughout the day, we have set up times to check them in order to establish a daily routine. The children also learn to wash their hands well.
10:30 - 11.00 Story & Calendar Time:
We have a routine of learning the days of the week, months of the year, weather, and counting the days in the month. During calendar time we also sing songs and dance.
11:00-11.30 Main Activity:
(theme -related) Whether it be arts and crafts, puppet play, dress up, blocks, puzzles, or games, during this time we are quite active in exploring our imaginations and learning all about social skills, language skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, readiness skills, and much more!
11.30-12.00 Activity: (phonics or theme-related play, story)
12:00 - 12:45 Lunch:
Lunch will usually last about forty-five minutes. We ask children to sit properly at the table and eat with good manners. Lunchtime is a great social time for children. They sit together and talk to each other as they enjoy their meals. As we want to teach the children not to waste food, we suggest that lunch be a well-balanced meal with a suitable amount of food. Whatever the children do not finish, we will send home to you.
1.00-1.50 Outdoor activities:
Children will need to move around and get some physical exercise. There are playgrounds we can go to in the neighborhood. It's a great time to also teach about road and park safety as well as having fun with water, sand, balls, and other games.
1:50 - 2:00 Time to go Home:
Children will change their shoes, put on their jackets, and say, "Good bye." This provides a real lesson in patience, as children must wait until their name is called before they are dismissed.
Music and Movement: On Tuesday mornings, all the children have an opportunity to spend some time singing songs and playing rhythmic games with Ms. Yukari, our music specialist. Ms. Yukari has a wonderful repertoire of exciting musical activities the children love!
Sometimes our daily schedule changes for example sometimes we go to the park in the morning (weather permitting).
